Good morning! I hope you enjoyed your 30 minutes of "Me Time" yesterday. Today you're going to be mistress of your own wardrobe.
I love this quote from Caitlin Moran's How to be a Woman . It perfectly sums up how we often feel when faced with wardrobe decisions. It's not just about having clothes - it's about having the right clothes.
I'm not suggesting that you can sort your entire wardrobe in half an hour but you can sort one outfit. Choose an occasion - an important work meeting, a social event or even a trip to Tesco and pick out the clothes you're going to wear for it.
Choose something that you'll be both comfortable and confident in and don't forget the accessories and jewellery. And also don't forget the shoes - many a good outfit has been ruined by "the wrong shoes" (I write from bitter experience here!)
Hang up your choices, take a good look at them and tweak as necessary, swapping any item that isn't just right. Now put them to one side in your wardrobe and tomorrow, you're ready to go.
I think this might be a good time to introduce you to Dolly. She's the model for the finished items made for Garden Knits.
I know she's not dressed very seasonally in this photo but she's been hiding in the loft for a while (she scared the puppy) and I haven't got a more recent picture.
The reason I'm introducing here is that Dolly has another role - she tries on clothes when I can't be bothered. She's the same clothes size as me and I've adjusted her to my height so I can get an idea of how clothes might look on me. She's very helpful when carrying out today's exercise - just dress her up and your outfit is ready and waiting.
If you want to make your own Dolly, mannequins are easy to get hold of and are fun to customise. Dolly's all in one bodysuit is made from copies of old book pages pasted on with PVA glue and then washed over with watered down white paint.
