I had planned a post about taking a nap for today but having done some research on the benefits and drawbacks of napping during the day I've gone for prescribing a rest instead. There are many studies that support the power nap practice, claiming that about 20-25 minutes can refresh and refocus you. On the other hand some sleep experts say that sleeping during the day can disrupt your night.
My advice is to do what works for you. If you can take a short snooze, wake up feeling great and still get a good nights rest, then go ahead. If you find that it stops you sleeping at night then simply have a rest.
Rest is under-rated. I think we've almost forgotten how to rest in this age of "glorified busification", we are constantly doing, often thinking of the next thing before we've finished the first. We work through lunch hours at our desks and answer emails while supposedly relaxing in front of the TV in the evening.
So slow down! Take a break and rest. Choose your time and choose your place. Do no more than have a cup of tea or a juice. Relax, clear your mind and enjoy.
